Located at Unmer Entrepreneur-Hub, Merdeka University of Malang, the Architecture Study Program held SEMAR#1 with the theme of Revitalization of the Kajoetangan Heritage Area of Malang. This seminar is a final evaluation of the Lecture, Architecture Seminar Course, Even Semester 2023-2024. The seminar event opened with three speakers: Head of the Malang City Bappeda, Mrs. Dwi Rahayu SH., M.Hum., Head of the City and Settlement Laboratory; Prof. Respati Wikantiyoso, and Member of the TACB Team, Head of the Unmer Malang Masters of Architecture Study Program, DR. Erlina Lakmiani Wahyitami., ST., MT. “
The presentation of the three speakers was a series of very comprehensive discussions with complementary points of view. The discussion of the Head of Bappede was more focused on the efforts to successfully revitalize from the economic benefits side through the development of tourist destinations. The second speaker emphasized the concerns about development trends that would weaken the branding of the area as a Heritage area, and the third speaker stressed the importance of preservation efforts and the role of the Malang City Cultural Heritage Expert Team (TACB) in overseeing the sustainability of the Kajoetangan Heritage area of Malang City. In addition to the three speakers, in the second session, presentations were made by students participating in the Architecture Seminar course, taking three themes of research results with the titles: (1) Townscape @ Serial Vision of Kajoetangan; (2) Revitalization of Kampoeng Heritage Kajoetangan; and (3) The New Image of Kajoetangan Heritage.
