The Urban and Human Settlement Laboratory (UHSL) of the Department of Architecture is a structural institution within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Merdeka Malang. The Urban and Human Settlement Laboratory has the primary task as an implementing unit for planning city design implementation and managing the quality and Laboratory facilities. The development of UHSL is committed to carrying out administrative procedures and overseeing the quality of the development of the Urban and Human Settlement Laboratory, Department of Architecture, and the University of Merdeka Malang.
The UHSL has responsibilities and roles in architectural education following the mission of developing Higher Education Tridharma activities in education, research, and community services. The UHSL plays an active role in developing the Department of Architecture in the academic realm, in the field of research, and in the area of Community Service through the contribution of ideas and honest work of lecturers and students’ education, as well as research-based. As a leading UHSL institution, it must be able to take part at the local, regional, national, and international levels in developing the potential of the locality to realize sustainable development and contribute to the achievement of the global vision of Sustainable Development Goals.
The UHSL of the Department of Architecture has a strong commitment to providing strengthening Bachelor of Architecture (S.Ars) who master the science of architecture planning and design, architectural design skills, and have excellent soft skills. This commitment is reinforced by efforts to develop Higher Education Tridharma Activities to improve the quality of academic activities and academic support activities supported by research and community service activities within the framework of developing architectural education based on the local resources potential and oriented towards sustainable development. The development of UHSL Institutions in DA UNMER Malang is a logical consequence of improving the quality of Higher Education Tridhama activities to achieve a superior rank of university vision in 2035.
