UNMER News— The Architecture Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Merdeka Malang, held a dissemination event for the Independent Internship Program (MBKM) for the Even Semester 2024/2025 at the UNMER Malang Architecture Study Program Hall on Tuesday (July 22nd). Independent interns, the Head of the Architecture Study Programme, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, lecturers, and all Architecture Study Programme students attended the event.
In her remarks, Dr Ir. Dina Poerwoningsih, ST, MT, Head of the Architecture Study Program, stated that the Independent MBKM program is a long-standing initiative run independently by the Architecture Study Program. “This is part of the Independent MBKM programme, which is being implemented independently by the Architecture Study Programme and has been ongoing for quite some time,” she emphasised.

She further emphasised the Architecture Study Program’s commitment to continuing its internship programme, including a new programme titled Impact Internship, as a form of student real-world contribution to addressing challenges in the workplace and society.
“Now, after MBKM, a new policy will be introduced, namely the Impact Campus, which is an extension of the internship programme with a different mechanism, and we are currently reviewing it,” she explained.
This dissemination activity also serves as a form of accountability for the participants’ off-campus learning process and sharing experiences with colleagues and juniors. “This dissemination is not mandatory, but we recognise its importance in providing insight and motivation to other students. We also conduct mapping and evaluation to improve the programme in the future,” Dina added.
The main dissemination session featured presentations from five students who have participated in internship programmes with various industry partners and government agencies. The five students included Cindy Sari Agustin from CV. Surya Karya, Situbondo, East Java, with Dr Ir Erna Winansih, MT, as their internship supervisor.
Cindy shared her experiences in site surveys, project measurements, and sketching. She was involved in six projects during her internship, including the Situbondo Shophouse, Pandaan Eye Clinic, Pandaan Optik, Asembagus Laboratory, Situbondo Public Works and Housing Office Building, and Situbondo Cafe Design.
The second student was M. Fatih Kholilurrohman, who interned at Cubicle Studio Architect, Banyuwangi, with Assistant Professor Dr Ir Erna Winansih, S.T., M.T. During his internship, Fatih contributed to the creation of floor plans, 3D models, and renderings for various projects, including the Klatak Workshop in Banyuwangi, the NU Hospital in Banyuwangi, the PKU Muhammadiyah Rogojampi Hospital, the Singojuruh Community Health Centre, the Alasmalang Mosque in Banyuwangi, the Basuki Rahmat Clinic, and a residence in Sidoarjo.
The next two students are Chesilia Kama Rucita and Elfiana Deran, who completed an internship at PT. LyondellBasell Advanced Polyolefins, Pasuruan, with Assistant Professors Prof. Respati Wikantiyoso, MSA., Ph.D., and Dr. Ir. Erlina Laksmiani Wahjutami, S.T., M.T., as Assistant Professors. Together with the civil engineering team, they worked on various internal company infrastructure projects, including a parking area, meeting room, locker room, canteen and prayer room, workshop maintenance, cooling tower, production sliding doors, sign company, lobby, and oil storage.
The final student is Dayang Eguine Gabrila, who has implemented an independent MBKM (Community-Based Learning) programme at the Public Works, Spatial Planning, and Settlement Areas Office in Malinau Regency, North Kalimantan, with Assistant Professor Dr Ir Dina Poerwoningsih, S.T., M.T. During his internship, Dayang participated in strategic projects such as the Malinau Regency Representative Area, the Official Residence of the Regent and Deputy Regent, and the Malinau Representative Mess Building.
The event concluded with a presentation on the Independent Impact Internship delivered by the Secretary of the Architecture Study Program at UNMER Malang, Ms. Septi Dwi Cahyani, S.T., M.T. She stated that the Architecture Study Program at UNMER Malang fully supports the Independent Impact Internship program for the odd semester of the 2026/2027 academic year. The requirements for Independent Impact Internship participants are that they must be students in their fifth and seventh semesters and have a GPA above 3.00.
This dissemination activity reflects the implementation of the Independent Impact Internship Programme (MBKM Mandiri), which positions students not only as learners but also as agents of change through their tangible contributions in various fields. This dissemination is expected to inspire other students to take advantage of internship opportunities as a bridge to the world of work and make an impact on their surroundings.
